ICYMI: Second Round of Ordering for Free COVID-19 Tests Now Open

ACL Updates

Starting on September 25, every U.S. household had an opportunity to order four free at-home COVID-19 tests through a partnership between the HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response and the United States Postal Service.

On November 20, a second round of ordering opened, allowing each household to place a second order to receive four more free tests. Households that have not yet placed an order can place two orders now, to receive a total of eight tests.

To order your free tests, go to COVID.gov and complete the form with your contact and shipping information.

People who are blind or have low vision can place a second order for free Ellume COVID Home Tests, which are more accessible than other options. For more information, including ordering instructions, please visit ACL's website.

President's Message

Posted: December 6, 2023

As we recover from Thanksgiving and enter the holiday season, let’s talk about service. Obviously, we serve our clients every day in the best way that we can.

How do you serve your larger community? This can take a lot of different forms. Do you volunteer your professional services? Do you volunteer in a non-PT role somewhere in your community? Do you contribute financially (or otherwise) to causes that are important to your heart and mind? Let us know—share with us on social media - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Let our community support your community!

Finally, how do you serve your profession? Volunteering for APTA Home Health is rewarding in so many ways. As your president, I am thankful for the support of our members. Being a volunteer leader and committee member for APTA Home Health over the past sixteen years (Finance Committee, Treasurer, and now President) has given me so many opportunities and connections, both personally and professionally, and opened doors for me that would have otherwise remained closed. This would not be possible without the numerous fellow volunteers and Academy members that I have encountered along the way. Please consider giving yourself the same opportunities while helping to better the profession of physical therapy. Whether a PT, PTA, or student, we have room for you! Please reach out to me directly at [email protected] so I can help you find the best fit for your interests and time commitment.

Also, please help us honor your colleagues who serve our clients and our profession so well by nominating them for our “Academy Awards”. Click here for more information and submit your nomination by December 17th!

Be well and be kind to each other during this season of joy.

Sincerely,

Phil Goldsmith
President
APTA Home Health

Make a Difference This Holiday Season

With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s easy for us to forget how important it is for us to take time to advocate for the profession. We need as many letters as possible sent to Congress to avoid the impending 3.37% cut to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule slated for January 1, 2024. If you want to learn more about the issue, read this article. We encourage you, your co-workers, staff, family, friends, and most importantly, your patients to take action using the Patient Action Center this holiday season.

It’s that time of year to mark your calendars for the 2024 APTA Capitol Hill Day that will take place April 14-16 in Washington D.C. Participants will receive advocacy training starting the morning of April 15th and meet with members of Congress on April 16th. More details are coming soon, and we hope you will save the date to advocate.

Let’s all have a New Year’s resolution this upcoming year to join our advocacy network. Only 12% of our association are part of our grassroots. Help advance the profession in 2024 by signing up today.

Contact Eva Norman, PT, DPT at [email protected] if you have any questions or want to get more involved!

Happy Holidays!
